Getting here
Región de Murcia (RMU)
The closest airport, at Corvera, roughly 40 minutes by car. Flights from across the UK.
Alicante (ALC)
About an hour and a quarter by car, with the widest choice of UK flights all year.
Car hire
The most flexible option, and the one we'd recommend for most stays.
Transfers and taxis
Book a transfer in advance, or take a taxi from the rank at the airport.
The weather
More than 300 days of sunshine a year, mild winters and hot summers.
Winter
Highs in the mid-teens. Sunny, with cool evenings.
Spring
Warm and bright. Ideal for golf, walking and cycling.
Summer
30°C and more in July and August. Beach time.
Autumn
The sea is at its warmest. Many people's favourite.
Getting around
Car, bike or taxi, and the distances between the main places.
- A hire car makes life much easier, especially for beaches and day trips. Remember they drive on the right.
- Taxis are easy to book for dinner out, so nobody has to be the designated driver.
- Bikes are great for the coast, but the resort is hilly and summer afternoons are hot.
- Cabo de Palos and Calblanque are about 10 minutes away, Cartagena about 30 and Murcia about 50.
Travelling with children
Beaches, activities, restaurants and ideas for families.
- The Mar Menor's calm, shallow water is perfect for little ones. Buckets and spades are compulsory.
- Junior tennis, padel and golf coaching keeps older children busy.
- Spanish restaurants are very welcoming to children, even late in the evening.
- An apartment or villa gives everyone more space and makes nap time easier.
First time at La Manga Club?
Everything worth knowing before you arrive.
- Bring your GHIC (or EHIC) as well as travel insurance.
- Plugs are the two-pin European type, so pack an adaptor.
- Smaller shops in towns may close for a few hours in the afternoon.
- Spain eats late: lunch from about 2pm, dinner from 8.30pm or later.
FAQs
Is La Manga Club the same as La Manga?
No. La Manga Club is a resort near Los Belones, a few kilometres from Cabo de Palos. La Manga del Mar Menor is the long strip of land between the two seas, about 15 minutes' drive away.
Do I need a car?
Not strictly, but it makes beaches, restaurants and day trips much easier, and the resort itself is spread out.
When is the best time to visit?
Spring and autumn for golf and sport, summer for the beach, and winter for sunshine when it's grey at home.
Is it good for non-golfers?
Very. Between tennis, padel, beaches, walking, diving and day trips, there's more than enough to fill a week.
